Quality Basic Education Act; students significantly at risk of not achieving grade level reading proficiency or with characteristics of dyslexia; include provisions
A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Part 3 of Article 6 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the O.C.G.A., relating to educational programs under the "Quality Basic Education Act," so as to include provisions for students significantly at risk of not achieving grade level reading proficiency or with characteristics of dyslexia; to revise a short title; to repeal Code Section 20-2-159.6, relating to screening for dyslexia and related disorders, training and professional development, pilot program evaluating early intervention, and data reporting; to amend Code Section 20-1-44 of the O.C.G.A., relating to duties and authority relative to the Georgia Council on Literacy, so as to make conforming changes; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
